I offer strategic writing services to build your personal brand and your reputation as a thought leader.

(Think of it as "stories as a service.")

I’m a social media ghostwriter and brand strategist who uses stories to strengthen personal brands. My specialty is helping company founders and entrepreneurs to communicate in a manner that enhances their connection with clients, customers, investors, employees, and partners.

My secret sauce is my ability to unearth your insights and experiences and shape them into compelling social media updates and articles you can share.

Regularly publishing your ideas helps to position you as an expert, draw others to you, and make clear what you stand for and your distinct point of view.

Great, Amy, But how does it work?

If you're serious about building your brand and your reputation as a thought leader, I can help.

I ask that new clients agree to:

  • Have a standing weekly call with me of 30 minutes, during which we discuss two things: what you are focused on that is most important to you, and what you would like to share publicly this week on social media.

  • Publish your thoughts, with my ghostwriting support, at least once a week.

  • Pay me a monthly retainer in advance that is due whether or not you keep on schedule.

  • Commit to working with me for at least three months.

In my experience, this structure, based on consistency and discipline, motivates you to stay on a schedule. It instills in you a new behavior to maximize your effectiveness on social media. And most importantly, this time frame allows you to gain traction in getting the results you desire.

What Does this include?

Most of my work with you involves three essential elements:

Short Updates of 150-200 words

Business social media algorithms currently favor shorter, concise updates of less than 200 words. What's especially important here is to stick to one clear, focused message, which can be surprisingly difficult for most people. In this format, fewer words must have greater impact.

ArticleS of 500-700 words

Articles offer a chance to showcase your depth of knowledge on a topic but remain highly focused on a single message. These longer pieces complement your shorter updates and together attract new clients and potential partners, elevating your positioning as a thought leader.

THINKING PARTNER: Advisory & Strategy

When we work together, I become your thinking partner. You are getting not only my writing expertise but my advisory and strategic services as well. I'll coach you on the best ways to leverage social media (hint: talk with people, not at people) to increase your engagement, maximize your reach, and build your brand.

FAQs

What is ghostwriting?

Who uses a ghostwriter?

How does your process work?

How did you become a ghostwriter?

Why should I hire a professional ghostwriter?

Do you work on resumes/CVs? Sorry, no.

Do you ghostwrite books? Though I have in the past, I rarely do these days because these long-term engagements require me to devote most of my time to a single client. As an alternative, I offer authors the ability to test out their ideas for a new book via social media posts and articles. By observing how your target audience reacts, you’ll be able to refine your ideas and key themes so that you are in a much stronger position to move forward with a book.

Can I pay you to write about me/my company in one of your Forbes articles? In a word, no. As a Forbes contributor, I’m contractually prohibited from accepting pay-to-play assignments. If you’re looking for editorial coverage, you’ll need to research and pitch the appropriate editor with a compelling story idea. If they like it, they’ll assign it to one of their staff reporters. (Hint: Forbes has MANY editors based on industries/verticals.)

Can you write my company’s web copy? My specialty is working with leaders to build their personal brands and thought leadership, so my writing focuses on individual people (not companies). While I don’t write web copy, many of my clients have repurposed their Career Story components on their personal websites. For example, in addition to listing their Bio on their site, they’ve also incorporated their Backstory into an About section, their Headline as a value statement on the home page, and their What I Do as explainer copy.

Are you a technical writer? No, I'm not.

Who are your clients? My best clients are company founders and entrepreneurs committed to growing their personal brands by leveraging the power of social media. They have clarity regarding what matters most to them, what they want to say, and their intended and ideal audiences (investors, partners, talent, customers, etc.) but lack the time or writing acumen to translate their thoughts and insights into concise and compelling written posts.

Where can I see samples of your work? Though my client work is confidential, I've written thousands of updates and articles under my own name on Forbes, LinkedIn, Thrive Global, and Medium. These pieces offer insights into my writing style and range. You can also visit my articles section on my website to see some of my most popular works, or subscribe to my newsletter, Illuminate Me, to get my illuminating nuggets of wisdom delivered directly to your inbox.

How can I be sure that you'll "get" my writing voice? Before I write a single word, we'll have a conversation. During our call, we'll discuss your goals, perspective, and point of view. While you're speaking, I'm listening attentively and taking copious notes on your phrasing, cadence, and speech patterns. The result? A piece that sounds like you because it incorporates your ideas and your words, written in a clear and compelling manner.

What topics do you write about? I've written about lots of things, but some of my favorites include leadership, soft skills, communication, transformation, inspiration, entrepreneurship, career development, business strategy, innovation, personal development, emotional intelligence, and creativity.

Does social media attract new clients? Most definitely! Aside from referrals, I get all of my new clients from social media. I practice what I preach, using consistency and discipline rather than outbound selling or advertising.

Where else can I find you? I’m active on social media, including LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. And hopefully in your inbox when you subscribe to my newsletter, Illuminate Me!
